One VMS Built for Virtually Any Camera Environment

When organizations evaluate a new Video Management System, features, cybersecurity, scalability, and AI capabilities naturally get a lot of attention. But there’s another question that can have an enormous impact on the cost of a VMS migration:

At Mirasys, we believe it should.

Today, Mirasys supports more than 12,000 cameras across 100+ manufacturers, giving end users and integrators the freedom to choose the right camera for the job—without being locked into a single manufacturer’s ecosystem.

A new installation may begin with cameras from one or two manufacturers, but serious security operations evolve. Over 5, 10, or 15 years, facilities expand, new locations are added, technology improves, and specialized cameras are deployed. Different projects may require different manufacturers, firmware versions and protocols. Eventually, most large surveillance environments become a mix of technologies. And that’s perfectly normal.

Organizations can invest hundreds of thousands—or millions—of dollars in surveillance infrastructure. When it’s time to modernize the VMS, perfectly functional cameras shouldn’t have to be removed simply because the new platform doesn’t support them.

Even replacing a small percentage of cameras across a large deployment can significantly increase the cost of a migration once you factor in new hardware, installation, lifts, configuration, and testing. That’s why camera compatibility isn’t an afterthought at Mirasys. It’s a core part of our open-platform philosophy.

Mirasys has a dedicated driver development team focused on camera integration, testing, and certification.

And importantly, we don’t simply establish a connection and call a camera “supported.”

That’s particularly important in enterprise environments where cameras deployed years apart may be running different firmware versions.

Many excellent camera manufacturers also develop their own VMS platforms. Naturally, their development priorities tend to focus heavily on their own camera ecosystems. Mirasys is different because we don’t manufacture cameras. Our priority is the end user’s environment.

If one manufacturer develops the best camera for a particular application, our customers should be able to use it. If another manufacturer introduces something better for a different application, they should be able to use that too.

Mirasys supports cameras from virtually every major professional security camera manufacturer. For integrators, that provides greater freedom when designing systems. For end users, it means the camera decision and the VMS decision don’t have to be the same decision.

Casinos, hospitals, universities, municipalities, government facilities and corporate campuses accumulate technology as they grow. New buildings, acquisitions, renovations and emerging security requirements inevitably introduce different generations and types of cameras.

The larger and more established the security environment becomes, the more valuable an open VMS becomes.

Considering a VMS Update? Send Us Your Camera List.

If you’re considering updating or replacing your current Video Management System, send Mirasys your existing camera list. Our team will review it and confirm Mirasys support for your cameras before you make your migration decision. Don’t replace perfectly good cameras because your VMS tells you to.

Keep the cameras that work. Choose the new cameras you want. Let Mirasys bring them together.
